WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Dozens of people have returned back to their townhomes after being evacuated by law enforcement on Friday.

Residents were evacuated around 4:30 p.m. Friday from an area in the 4500 of Exuma Lane in the Saylor’s Watch community near Monkey Junction.

Multiple agencies responded, including the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. The bomb squad, hazmat team, and animal services were all on site.

Brody McSwain and Carmen Sox live in the area, and were evacuated.

“Yeah we didn’t know what was going on, went over there to go talk to them, and they made everybody leave and go into the parking lot down there. My girlfriend and my cat are sitting down there,” McSwain said.

“We had just gotten home, probably not even 30 minutes, and they were banging on our doors all in full uniform asking us to evacuate and wouldn’t give us any information, just told us we had to leave,” Sox added.

A spokesman for the sheriff’s office told WWAY everything has been resolved. There was nothing wrong or hazardous found, and no criminal charges will be filed.
