Reward up to $150,000 offered after USPS driver robbed at gunpoint in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A large reward is being offered after a mail carrier was assaulted and robbed while delivering mail in the Love Grove community.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the armed robbery happened on December 11 in the 1300 block of Creekfront Drive.

Police say the United State Postal worker was delivering the mail at the communal mailbox when a green sedan, possibly a Honda or Mazda pull up. Two males, both armed with guns, got out of the car. The two suspects stole items that the mail carrier was delivering and during the robbery the mail carrier was assaulted.

One suspect is approximately 6’0 tall, both had a thin build, were wearing all dark clothing and ski masks. Both suspects got back in the suspect vehicle and headed toward 23rd St.

The Wilmington Police Department is working with the United States Postal Inspection Service on this investigation. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved in the robbery.
