Rezoning request to build new homes in Pender County denied
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A request to rezone nearly 350 acres of land to bring hundreds of homes to Pender County has been denied. The county manager’s office said the request increases density beyond the public’s interest at this time.
The Pender County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to deny the request Monday, November 20.
The Hardison Building Company, a Wilmington based company, originally proposed to rezone the land from rural agricultural to residential mixed use a few months ago. The development would have made way for 157 homes and 405 townhomes on Highway 210 near the intersection of Island Creek Road.
The Board of Commissioners tabled the the proposal in October before denying it last week.
