ASH, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County and Brunswick Senior Resources, Inc. held a ribbon cutting Friday for a new Ash-Waccamaw multi-use building.

The new building on Waccamaw School Road NW is situated next to the school and Waccamaw park.

The 11,000 square-foot building features a satellite office for the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and Brunswick County EMS, as well as a kitchen and senior center.

Brunswick County EMS director Lyle Johnston and Brunswick Senior Resources president and CEO Jim Fish are excited to be able to provide for the growing community.

“We want to be in the communities, when we have a community that is growing like this, we want to make sure that we put the services in those communities where they are needed,” Johnson said.

“It’s going to be a fixture in the community of ash and Waccamaw and we are very excited because it is going to be a chance to help the members of this community. Be a place for gathering, it is integrated with a park and a school and other infrastructures. So, we are just really excited for what it is going to be able to provide,” Fish shared.

Brunswick County EMS will have a quick response vehicle at the building which will allow the person on it to respond ahead of the ambulance responding.
