Thousands check out cars at annual Rims on the River
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –Rims On The River car show was held Saturday in Downtown Wilmington after being postponed back in May due to weather.
The 3-day event kicked off Friday with welcome parties. Hundreds of old and new cars lined down Front street Saturday for folks to check out.
John Raia of Leland has been participating in the event for 3 years. He says his favorite part is meeting new people.
“People come to Rims on the River from very far away and you get to see people and cars you don’t see all the time,” Raia said. “You make a friend because they have the same kind of car or they have a car that you like or they like your car and before you know it we are going out to have dinner and you build a nice friendship.”
Raia has a 1956 red Ford pick up truck and enjoys coming to these events with his wife.
To wrap up the weekend’s festivities, a cruise will be held Sunday at noon. Cars will depart from the area across from Cape Fear Community College’s parking lot and end at Satellite Bar and Lounge.
