Rocky Lewis leaving East Columbus to be head football coach at South Brunswick


BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — East Columbus head football coach Rocky Lewis has decided to leave East Columbus after two seasons as the head football coach in order to be the head football coach at South Brunswick High School. Lewis replaces Daniel Finn as the South Brunswick head football coach pending school board approval.

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (BRUNSWICK COUNTY SCHOOLS RELEASE) — South Brunswick High School is pleased to announce the recommendation of Rocky Lewis to the Brunswick County Board of Education for approval as health/physical education teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. Pending Board approval, SBHS Principal Bob Grimes plans to appoint Lewis to serve as head football coach.

Lewis has a strong and diverse coaching background both at the high school and collegiate ranks.  In his 23 year career, Lewis has made stops at East Carolina University, Appalachian State University, and NC A&T University where he spent much of his time coaching quarterbacks and wide receivers.  He has also worked as the offensive coordinator at Chowan University.  Lewis’s high school experience has come as an assistant coach at Clinton high school under his father, legendary Coach Bob Lewis, and as the head coach and athletic director for East Columbus High School.
