Rocky Point man accused of sexually assaulting a child

PENDER COUNTY, NC  (WWAY) — A man is behind bars after officials say he was arrested for the alleged rape of a child.

According to officials at the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, Esteban Pino Sanchez, 19, of Rocky Point, was taken into custody after the child reported sexual assault to her mother.

Sanchez was charged with one count of felony Statutory Rape of a Child by an Adult, one count of felony Sexual Offense with a Child by an Adult, two counts of felony Indecent Liberties with a Child and two counts of misdemeanor Sexual Battery.

He is currently in the Pender County Jail under a $1,000,000 bond. His first appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at the Pender County Courthouse.
