Running Man Challenge Accepted: Wilmington Police & Fire film viral dance

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police and Fire departments are taking part in a world-wide viral dance trend, the “Running Man Challenge”

The challenge is to create a video of a variation of the running man dance to the 1990s hit song “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJ’s.

The departments got down to the popular jam Saturday as they filmed their version of the dance.

Wilmington Firefighter Michael Lee says it’s a great way to interact with the community.

“We thought it would be a good idea to come together as the fire department and police department to do it to kind of level things out,” Lee said. “You know there’s a lot of things going on with violence and we figured if we did this, it would kind of bring the tension down and let them know that first we are here for the community.”

The department invited the community to of course be a part of the filming. They even shot some of the video in front of WPD’s helicopter SABLE.

WPD says if you missed out Saturday, they will be filming in other places so stay tuned if you would like to be part of the video.
