Salvation Army Angel Tree program kicks off at Wilmington’s Independence Mall
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Salvation Army of the Cape Fear kicked off its annual “Angel Tree Fundraising Event” at Independence Mall.
The Salvation Army “Angel Tree” program helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year.
“Some families really enjoy buying a toy or buying a gift, knowing that this toy will go to a child in need and they can be more hands-on and they can be more involved,” said Mayor Ken Morris with the Salvation Army of the Cape Fear,. “Some folks prefer the checks, but others really enjoy this Angel Tree program.”
At Independence Mall, there are dozens of “Angels” on the tree representing children throughout the Cape Fear area with “Wish Lists” for items they would like to receive.
The Salvation Army would like to get each of these “Angels” adopted. Once you do, you’ll learn the name of your child name and their age, as well as a list of needs – like shirts and pants – and wants – like dolls and games.
You will then buy a few things from the list and drop off the donations unwrapped.
