Salvation Army unveils plans for new Wilmington complex

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) —  One year after we learned the Salvation Army purchased a piece of undeveloped land in Wilmington for a new facility, we now know more about the plans.

According to documents submitted to the city, the new 25 acre complex will have a community center, arts center, recreation center, dining facilities, boarding space, and chapel.

The Salvation Army has created a Build Hope campaign to raise $10 million over two years to fund the project, which is expected to take another two years to build.

They will eventually close the existing center in Downtown Wilmington.
