Sam’s Club presents check to help homeless veterans
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Helping those who helped us. Homeless veterans in Wilmington are getting a helping hand from one business.
Sam’s Club presented a check for $3,950 to support Veterans Stand Down and Homeless Connect.
The money is to help homeless veterans and the veterans benefit action center event which is sponsored by the American Legion.
The vets who got the check said they are thankful for community support and said it means a lot to help fellow vets.
“They are our brothers and sisters. All of us have a shared experience OK. We’ve served our country and as a result of that we are at an opportunity in our life time right now, we have an opportunity to help those that can’t help themselves,” Chairman of the VBAC Tom Cerniglia said.
The chair of the New Hanover County Veterans Council said Sam’s Club will be helping again by hosting a fundraiser on Veterans Day.
There will also be the first ever Veterans Day parade in Wilmington this year.
