Santa leads ambulance convoy
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Instead of reindeer and a sleigh, Santa had five ambulances and a trailer full of presents for kids around the Cape Fear this morning.
For more than a decade New Hanover Regional Medical Center staff has participated in its Adopt a Family program, helping to make Christmas bright for dozens of families. Each department either sponsors a family, or teams up with another department to make it all possible.
This year staff and volunteers were able to provide presents to 81 families in the area.
“It was just an overwhelming joy for us to see how great our staff is who volunteered and participated. They have just gone above and beyond every year to help provide Christmases for families,” said Skyler Sample who works in Human Resources at the hospital.
The wrapped gifts were distributed to various organizations in and around New Hanover County.
