Santa’s house officially completed

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) – After people in Carolina Beach came together and worked for months, Harry Buie, aka Santa, has finally moved into his new home.

Neighbors and volunteers worked for the last five months to create this home for Harry Buie free of charge.

“It’s wonderful,” Harry Buie said. “I’d never did think things would happen like this.”

An all new living room complete with a new couch and memories from the past.

There are also brand new appliances, kitchen and comfort for the man known as Santa.

Harry was living in a home with a hole in the roof now he can rest his head at night knowing he is protected.

The months of hard work to create this final project was possible thanks to the idea of a special little girl.

“We walked by the street and I said can we fix Santa’s house? That’s what made all this happen.” Evie Zachary said.

Now a pear tree is planted out front in her honor, to remember the person who helped Santa get a new home.

But the work of all the volunteers did not go unnoticed.

That love has inspired something new; this project was just the start.

“I’d like to announce the formation of a new 501C3 and we’re going to name it Habitat for Harry after this gentleman right here since his project was the start of future projects to come.” Bryant Bass, lead builder on the project, said.

This nonprofit will soon help those in need, like Harry, and it’s all thanks to the dream of one little girl.

From all of us here at WWAY, welcome home Harry!
