SBI investigating officer involved shooting in Columbus County
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Columbus County.
It happened Wednesday night at a home off Seven Creeks Highway in Nakina, according to the SBI.
District Attorney Jon David confirms that his office made a concurrent request for a full SBI investigation regarding an officer involved shooting.
WWAY has reached out to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office for more details, including the time and location of the shooting, the extent of injuries, how many deputies were involved and whether they were on paid administrative leave, but the sheriff’s office will not release that information to us.
However, according to Columbus County News, a suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
