SC Police dog shot and killed by suspect

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say an Anderson County Sheriff’s Office police dog has been shot and killed by a carjacking suspect.

Sheriff John Skipper said the dog named Hyco was charging at the suspect after a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon, when it was shot. The suspect ran into the woods, and deputies are currently searching for him and perhaps one other person.

Deputies say one other suspect is in custody.

Skipper says the shooting happened after his deputies stopped a car on state Highway 24 that had been reported stolen in a carjacking a few minutes before.
