School systems opening late Thursday due to cold

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Due to the impending cold weather, some school systems have decided to start Thursday’s school day late.

According to the Columbus County School System’s twitter page, classes will be delayed to 10 a.m. Thursday, including Old Dock Elementary.

In an email, a spokesperson with Bladen County Schools says they are operating under a two-hour delay; Brunswick County Schools says they are operating on a one-hour delay for students.

Cape Fear Community College will open at 10 a.m. because of power outages in downtown Wilmington.
