Sea Tow Wrightsville Beach, NC Wildlife provide update on boating death

WRIGHTSVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The NC Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death for the boater found in the Intracoastal Waterway on Thursday.
It happened just north of Palm Tree Island at Wrightsville Beach.
Sea Tow Wrightsville Beach responded to a report of a boat circling out of control at 5:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found that a man had fallen from the boat and was unresponsive in the water.
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission identified the victim as Mark Rosenberg, 61.
Rosenberg was not wearing a life jacket or an ignition cutoff safety switch, which would have cut off the motor’s engine when he fell out.
NC Wildlife said it appears the boat hit Rosenberg while he was in the water. Foul play, nor alcohol, are believed to have been involved.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident that occurred near Wrightsville Beach on May 22. Our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this heartbreaking loss, and we extend our sincerest condolences during this incredibly difficult time,” said Sea Tow Wrightsville Beach.
