Seahawk Softball duo named to All-CAA teams

HARRISONBURG, Virginia ( – UNCW sophomore Dominique Travers and freshman Emily Langkamp have been recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association’s head softball coaches as the league announced its annual awards on Tuesday afternoon.

Travers received a spot on the All-CAA Second Team while Langkamp earned All-Rookie Team notice.

A native of Montclair, Va., Travers is the Seahawks’ second-leading hitter with a .284 batting average and paces the squad with six home runs. She has also hit a team-high .400 against CAA competition with five home runs and 10 runs batted in.

Travers, who enters the postseason with a six-game hitting streak, helped the Seahawks earn a berth in the CAA Championship after hitting 5-for-8 in the three-game series sweep over the College of Charleston last weekend, including the game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh inning of Friday’s 2-1 series-opening victory.

Langkamp was named to the All-Rookie Team after posting a .254 batting average during the regular season. A product of The Woodlands, Texas, she hit the first home run of her college career in walk-off fashion to lead UNCW to a 6-4 victory over James Madison on Mar. 30.

One of three Seahawks to start all 46 games this season, Langkamp has also driven in eight runs for the Seahawks while starting at four different positions.

UNCW, which earned the No. 4 seed in this year’s five-team field, opens the CAA Championship with a rematch against Charleston on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m.
