Seahawks improve to 9-1; next up Duke and then NC State
WILMINGTON, NC (UNCW) — Nicole Lott posted her sixth double-double of the season as UNCW swept Campbell (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) to extend its winning streak to seven on Tuesday at Hanover Hall.
The Seahawks raised their record to 9-1 while the Camels dipped to 4-7.
Lott collected 10 kills and 11 digs and was the lone Seahawk in double figures in kills. Sydney Brock, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Player-of-the-Week, added nine kills and Kristen Powell and Halle Hunt chipped in eight apiece.
UNCW setter Alyssa Desjardins narrowly missed a double-double of her own with 21 assists and nine digs. Libero Sydney Alvis held match-high honors with 17 digs. At the net, Brock posted a match-high six blocks and Powell added three of her own.
Campbell’s Loni Kreun posted a match-high 12 kills while CU was limited to a .142 hitting average. Summer Schiutma finished with a double-double of 16 assists and 13 digs.
How it happened: UNCW controlled the serve game, finished with a season-high eight aces. Nicole Lott recorded four of those aces.
Notes: UNCW leads the all-time series, 32-15and has won the last three matches … Nicole Lott needs three kills to reach the 1,000 career kill mark … The Seahawks are hitting .277 and averaging 14.46 kills per set over their last four matches.
