Seahawks prepare to square off against Pirates

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The UNCW Men’s Basketball team saw another speed bump in their season as they couldn’t get in the win column at the Savannah Invitational.

This week they have the chance to turn the script against a rivalry opponent.

It’s one of the better rivalry games that the Seahawks have as they will travel up to Greenville to take on East Carolina University.

This is not the first time that UNCW has faced off against ECU as the two squared off in the jamboree in Chapel Hill before the year began.

While the Seahawks got the win, the single 13 minute period running clock format didn’t give either team to really establish themselves as a real game would, but Coach C.B. McGrath said just seeing them live will benefit his team Thursday.

“You watch tape and think that ‘he looks long’ but you don’t really know until you play against him. Or ‘he looks pretty physical’ but when you remember being pushed around for those five minutes that stays in your mind. I think that’s the biggest thing because you don’t ever really scrimmage against your opponents,” McGrath said.

It’s a full 40 minute game Thursday night between the Seahawks and Pirates.

We’ll have highlights right here following the game.
