Search for missing swimmer now a recovery effort

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The search for a swimmer who went missing at Carolina Beach over the weekend has been changed to a recovery operation.

21-year-old James Cameron of Graham was reported missing on Saturday, May 28.

Officials with the Carolina Beach Police Department and Carolina Beach Fire Department announced the change this afternoon after searching by land, air, and water for almost three days.

Officials say the search will continue with a variety of resources, including aircrafts when available. A beach strand patrol will support the recovery efforts until further notice.
