Search resumes for Cape Fear River jumper

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Wilmington Police Department, along with the Coast Guard and other officials, will resume their search this morning for a man they say jumped into the Cape Fear River.

Police tell WWAY the man was seen jumping into the river around 4 p.m. from Water Street in downtown Wilmington on Sunday.

Witnesses say the man was trying to kill himself. A spokeswoman with Wilmington Police says the man was overheard saying he did not want to live. Officials searched until dark last night.
