Seaside Bagels reaches out to students of SEA academy with new ‘Spectrumship’


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Seaside Bagels in Wilmington started a new program called the “Autism Spectrumship.”

It’s a program for high school students at SEA academy for students with autism. The program provides work experience in the bagel shop.

Students get hands on experience in all areas of the work place like rolling dough, washing dishes and customer service.

Will Kivler, one of the participants feels like he is benefiting from this program. “I feel like I’m getting a lot of experience here. I feel that I’m valued and I feel that I know that people appreciate what we do and know that we do good work,” said Will.

Owner, Cristy Tondeur says that she knew from the get go she wanted to start a program like this for young people with autism.
