Second arrest made in Whiteville shooting

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Whiteville Police say a second person has been arrested for their role in a shooting earlier in April, and the first person arrested for that shooting is also charged with murder for a different shooting only hours apart.

According to police, on April 13, a shooting occurred  that led to a vehicle crash at Washington Street and J.K. Powell Boulevard Road.

The victim, Jaquise Cribbs, 19, was airlifted to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, but died.

The following Wednesday, deputies arrested Kapri Oman McMillian, 32,  for the murder of Cribbs.

Seven hours before that shooting that led to a vehicle crash, police say there was a different shooting at Fun-ctionz on 910 S. Madison Street.

McMillian has now also been charged for that incident, and a second person is now in custody for that incident as well.

Earlier this afternoon, April 30, detectives with the Whiteville Police Department went to Lumberton and arrested Samantha Crawford, 34, of Whiteville.

The suspects have been charged with Discharging a Weapon at a Moving Vehicle and are currently being held at the Columbus County Law Enforcement Center.

Samantha Crawford received a $2,500 secured bond and Kapri Oman McMillian received a $25,000 secured bond.
