Senate set to pass temporary spending bill

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate is set today to pass a spending bill that would prevent the government from shutting down this week.

A vote Monday easily broke a filibuster threat and set up a final vote.

Then the House is expected to approve the measure before a deadline of midnight Wednesday.

The bill has been stripped of a tea party-backed measure to take taxpayer funding away from Planned Parenthood as the price for keeping the government open.
