Senator Rachel Hunt makes LT Governor campaign stop in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Election day is about 3 months away and several federal and state seats are up for grabs, including the Lieutenant Governor’s race.
State Senator Rachel Hunt made a campaign stop in Wilmington Thursday afternoon, volunteering at the Diaper Bank of North Carolina.
She is the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor.
She, along with several other candidates for the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners and the Board of Education, wrapped packs of diapers to be distributed throughout the Cape Fear.
In total, between 5000 and 6000 diapers were wrapped, which will help cover 120 babies.
Hunt said some of the issues important to her include supporting public schools, expanding access to health care, and early childhood development programs.
“You know, this is something that affects all children in our society and we know if we have good, if we provide for children at a young age, then we can really make sure their lives go well,” Hunt said. “If children don’t have diapers, they will have a terrible day and if they have many terrible days, that will turn into an adverse situation for them.”
Hunt is an attorney and the daughter of former 4 term Governor Jim Hunt.
She currently represents Mecklenburg County as a member of the State Senate.
