Sentencing for NC State Fair ride operator postponed

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) — The ride operator of a North Carolina State Fair ride that malfunctioned in 2013 – throwing passengers to the ground – was expected to be sentenced Monday, but the case was postponed because the victims were involved in a serious car crash over the weekend.

Timothy Tutterrow, of Georgia, pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon charges last year in connection with the incident that left five injured.

Tutterrow’s attorney said he accidentally hit a button, causing the ride to start back up as riders were getting off.
