BOLTON, NC (WWAY) — An $8.7 million road resurfacing project will begin in April in eastern Columbus County.

About seven miles of U.S. 74/76 will be milled, resurfaced and restriped.

The road work will take place between Sam Potts Highway in Bolton and Water Tank Road, near the Columbus-Brunswick County line.

The project also includes preservation maintenance and concrete deck and substructure repairs to a pair of the highway’s bridges spanning Livingston Creek.

According to a news release from the NC Department of Transportation, the project will require the contractor to close lanes during the day, but they will be prohibited from closing any lanes from Friday afternoon until early Monday morning in the summertime when beach travel is higher.

Work is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025.
