Sex offender pleads guilty to WMD charge

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County man sentenced to prison earlier this year for sex crimes has pleaded guilty to a weapons charge.

Craig Allen Gore, 40, pleaded guilty in Pender County Court last week to possession of a weapon of mass destruction and death, according to the Clerk of Court’s Office. A clerk says records show Gore was arrested in 2013 for having a sawed-off shotgun.

A judge sentenced Gore to 20-33 months in prison. That sentence will run concurrently to the nine-year sentence he began serving in March after pleading guilty to kidnapping, attempted rape and assault charges. In that case also ordered Gore to register as a sex offender for 30 years after his release.

Gore is serving his sentence at a state prison in Greene County.
