Shallotte man pleads guilty to kidnapping, assault charges
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Shallotte man will spend a minimum of four years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping and assault charges, among others, according to District Attorney Jon David’s office.
In a release, the DA says Alex King assaulted his ex-girlfriend in June of 2014 by grabbing her around the throat and dragging her down the dirt driveway at her Shallotte home. An investigation lead to King’s arrest and conviction.
King pleaded guilty in Brunswick County Superior Court to second-degree kidnapping, assault by strangulation, communicating threats and injury to personal property, according to the release. As a result of the sentence, the DA says King could spend up to 6 years behind bars.
