Sharks lose home opener; dog wins over the crowd as bat boy; playoff wins for Whiteville

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Despite recent renovations to Buck Hardee Field “Titus” the dog stole the show between innings at the Shark Tank while performing his bat boy assignment during Wednesday’s home opener for the Wilmington Sharks. Wilmington took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 5th on a local connection. Former North Brunswick Scorpion Steven Linkous knocked in former Ashley Screaming Eagle Christian Wolfe and former Whiteville Wolfpack slugger Hunter Smith. The Sharks were unable to keep the lead though. Both Wolfe and Linkous play college baseball at UNCW. Click the icon to see the location connection.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY) — Former South Brunswick Cougar & former Brunswick Community College basketball standout Montez Loman signed to play basketball at Tennessee State on Wednesday.

ROCKY POINT, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County School Board has approved Jonathan Taylor as the Head Football Coach at Trask High School. Taylor has most recently served as an assistant coach at Union HS. He’s also coached at Topsail HS & New Hanover HS.
