Shaun Kirk transferring from NC State

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — After just over two years with the NC State program, former Whiteville High School star Shaun Kirk is transferring from the school.

Today, the university granted his release to play his final year of eligibility at UNC Pembroke.

Kirk was recruited out of Whiteville to the Wolfpack under former Coach Mark Gottfried, but current State coach Kevin Keatts has nothing but good things to say about the forward.

“What a wonderful young man,” Coach Keatts said. “He’s always been about NC State. I’m excited for Shaun and Shaun is excited. He wanted the opportunity to play a little bit more. We’ll definitely miss him.”

Kirk appeared in just 28 games under Coach Mark Gottfried and only 5 games this season under Coach Kevin Keatts.
