At the direction of local law enforcement, Belville Elementary School was placed under a shelter in place order today due to an investigation in a neighborhood close to the school. Students and staff remained safe inside secured buildings. Once law enforcement provided clearance, Brunswick County Schools dismissed students using a staggered release in coordination with law enforcement to support safety and traffic flow. Families
were notified that dismissal would be delayed during this process. The underlying matter remains part of an active law enforcement investigation. Brunswick County Schools will defer to law enforcement for additional details. We appreciate the cooperation of our students, staff, families, and law enforcement partners.
