Shelters remain open days after Hurricane Matthew
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two days after Hurricane Matthew devastated communities across the Cape Fear region, several shelters remain open.
According to Brunswick County Emergency Services, the West Brunswick High School location is still serving the community. All other locations have closed.
In Pender County, multiple people are still evacuated at the shelter at Burgaw Middle School. All other locations have closed.
Four locations remain open in Columbus County. West Columbus High School, South Columbus High School, East Columbus High School and Edgewood Elementary School are still open.
In Bladen County, East Bladen High School remains open. It is pet friendly. All other locations have closed.
All four counties say they will continue helping the community as needed.
All shelters in New Hanover County are closed.
