Shelters are filling up as the temperature drops

As temperatures drop, more homeless are filling up shelters.

In Charlotte, shelters are overflowing with people. An emergency winter shelter has 236 beds, but these past few days more than 250 people showed up.

When the shelter runs out of beds, the staff pulls out mats and has people sleep on them on the floor.

Even more homeless are expected to show by the end of the week as temperatures are expected to drop.

Officials said they’re doing whatever they can to make sure the homeless are not spending these frigid nights on the streets.
