Sheriff: Drug dealer accidentally texts narcotics officer

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff says a man is facing charges because he sent a text message to a narcotics officer, not the person who he thought wanted drugs.

Sheriff James McVicker says Brendon Ward, 23, was arrested Thursday after meeting the officer at a parking lot Sunday. McVicker said when the pair met up and Ward saw the officer, Ward drove off, abandoned his car and ran away. Ward then turned himself in Thursday, the sheriff said.

Ward is facing charges including conspiracy to sell marijuana and felony flee to elude arrest.
