SHERIFF’S OFFICE: Man charged with dad’s murder after setting home on fire


BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Supply man on murder charges after he set fire to his father’s home.

Brunswick County Spokeswoman Emily Flax said the call came into the Brunswick County 911 Communications Center around 7:00 this morning about a structure fire at 2843 Craven St., SW in Supply.

Flax said James Caison, 86,  was pulled from the home, transported via EMS to Brunswick Novant Hospital where he later died.

Members of the Brunswick County Fire Investigation Task Force investigated the fire.

Detectives arrested Alton Glen Caison, 60, of the Craven Street address in Supply and charged him with first degree murder and first degree arson. Caison is currently being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility with no bond.

Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram and the entire Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office wishes to offer sincerest condolences to the family of Mr. Caison.
