Shooting in Columbus County leaves child wounded

CERRO GORDO, NC (WWAY) — Columbus County deputies responded to a shooting in Cerro Gordo that left a child injured Monday night
According to Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Monday around 8:00 p.m., deputies responded to a call at 357 Railroad Street SW, where a child had sustained a gunshot wound to the back of the head. The young victim, who was alert and responsive at the scene, was immediately transported to Columbus Regional Healthcare by Cerro Gordo Fire & Rescue.
Witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots, and detectives are actively working to determine the circumstances and identify those involved.
