Shots fired at vehicle in Columbus County

TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — One person has been arrested and is facing charges following a weekend incident near Tabor City.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an altercation and shots fired call in the 1300 block of Clyde Norris Road around 10pm Sunday night.

When deputies arrived, they found around ten people involved in a heated dispute. The report says 24-year-old Jolene Johnson was detained after not listening to deputies as they worked to de-escalate the situation.

After interviewing witnesses, it was revealed that the altercation continued from an earlier fight at 1800 Shug Norris Road, also near Tabor City.

During the earlier confrontation, one of the people allegedly fired shots at a vehicle being driven by someone who was attempting to leave the scene on Shug Norris Road.
The report says Jolene Johnson allegedly followed the person in the vehicle to Clyde Norris Road, where the confrontation continued.
Johnson was charged with Resisting, Delay, or Obstruct a Public Officer.
Investigators are also working to lay charges against the person accused of firing shots into an occupied vehicle.
