Man in custody after shots fired outside Lockwood Village Apartments

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man is in custody after allegedly firing a gun outside of the Lockwood Village Apartments off S. College Road.

According to New Hanover County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer the armed man walked outside the apartment complex earlier this evening, fired several shots and then went inside of someone else’s apartment. No one else was inside the apartment with him, and officer evacuated the apartment building.

After a few hours, officers were able to get the man out of the apartment. There’s no word yet on who he is or what charges he may face.

As officers cleared the scene, many responded to another reported armed standoff at Crosswinds Apartments on St. Andrews Drive.
