UPDATE: Several shell casings found, garage hit by bullet

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say officers found several shell casings and a garage damaged by a bullet after getting reports of shots fired Sunday night.

Wilmington Police say ShotSpotter alerts and calls came in just after 9 p.m., with one caller saying they heard 9 to 10 shots fired in the area of Manly Avenue and Prices Lane.

Police say when they got to the scene, 10 shell casings were found in the area. They say they also found a garage was damaged by a bullet in the 500 block of Manly Avenue.

A Wilmington Police spokeswoman said earlier that a ShotSpotter alert in the area indicated that the noise came from fireworks. WPD is investigating.
