Signature event supports work on the North Carolina coast

MOREHEAD CITY, NC (WWAY) — One night, two events to celebrate the North Carolina Coast. The North Carolina Coastal Federation is preparing to welcome hundreds on August 3, in Morehead City to a night of special awards and a celebration in support of the Federation’s efforts to protect and restore the coast.
For more than 20 years the North Carolina Coastal Federation has been celebrating coastal stewards through the annual Pelican Awards and this year on August 3, 13 individuals will be recognized for their efforts to make the North Carolina coast a better place to live and work.
Following the awards ceremony, the celebration will continue with the Federation’s signature event “A Taste of the Coast”. The evening event will feature live music, a silent auction, and seafood and drink pairings including NC oysters from several local oyster growers.
All proceeds from this event will go directly to supporting the mission of the Federation. Since 1982, the Federation has been in the field restoring miles of coastline; training and educating students, adults, and communities to take actions that result in cleaner coastal waters, and advocating for an accessible, healthy, productive coast.
Tickets are still available for the Taste of the Coast Celebration and can be reserved on the Federation’s website at nccoast.org/celebrate.
