Sinkhole in Supply now repaired
SUPPLY, NC (WWAY) — A sinkhole that opened in Supply near Holden Beach is now repaired.
The sinkhole, which the Brunswick County Sherrif’s Office shared photos of Facebook, began as a small indention in the road before caving into the ground on Friday.
The sheriff’s office notified the NC Department of Transportation, and crews were on the scene Monday finishing up repairs to the road.
Although the concrete is a temporary fix until proper permitting can be obtained, nearby resident Lis Caison said she’s pleased with the NCDOT’s response time.
“You know, they didn’t tear up my front yard or anything,” she said. “They were amazing, and as I was I talking to the gentleman before, he says, ‘we almost never get compliments.’ and I said, ‘well you guys are really deserving at least in this case.'”
Although a timeline for a permanent repair is still too early to pin down, for now, the road is safe to drive on.
