Skywatch Bird Rescue asking for bug donations

CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — Skywatch Bird Rescue says that baby season is coming to a close and that they are needing bug donations.

The group says that they are now getting in migratory warblers and other insectivores, including a common nighthawk who came in with a wing injury.

Skywatch explains that these are aerial hunters who specialize in catching insects on the wing with their massive mouths.

It’s also the time of year when they start seeing struggling young animals who are beginning to venture out on their own.
