Is it possible to see snow in Wilmington during November?

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It was freezing this morning in Wilmington, literally. The air temperature dropped to 32 degrees at the Wilmington International airport Monday.

It was the first freeze since March 20.

So it was cold enough to produce snow… but has it actually ever snowed in November in Wilmington? It sure has, it just doesn’t happen that often.

The National Weather Service said Wilmington’s earliest measurable snowfall in history occurred on this date, November 20, in 1879. Snowfall totals topped 1.5″.

Measurable snow has only fallen in Wilmington three times in November since records began in 1874.
