Soccer tournament brings hundreds to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 22nd annual Kickback Jack’s Seaside Classic Tournament is underway in Wilmington. 302 teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia came to compete for the title of champion this weekend.

Each team is scheduled into a bracket and guaranteed three games with the hopes of going on to the finals on Sunday afternoon. Ages range from U10 to U18 or from 9 through 18, and both boys and girls are taking the field.

There are many different fields in play this weekend at Hoggard, Hugh MacRae Park, Roland Grise, Trask, and Cape Fear Regional Soccer Park, Eaton and Ogden, Veterans Park and Legion Stadium.

Tournament Director Dani Pittman said it has been a great turnout this year and she is glad the weather is cooperating this weekend.
