South Brunswick defeats Union Pines 7-1 to advance

BOILING SPRING LAKES, N.C. (WWAY) – The reigning champs of Class 3A softball, South Brunswick advanced past the second round with a 7-1 home win over Union Pines on Friday.
Not wasting any time, Tabby Martin managed to score off a fielder’s choice to give the Cougars the lead. Carly Clewis then managed to bring Savana Burgess home on a sac fly for a 2-0 lead after the 1st inning.
Clewis and Burgess then teamed up again in the 3rd, this time on a fielder’s choice to bring the latter home again. Lily Knox lined to center soon after to add another run.
South Brunswick’s next game will be Tuesday when they host South Central.
