South Brunswick Islands Rotary Club honors local law enforcement on appreciation day

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The South Brunswick Islands Rotary Club honored local law enforcement officers Friday morning with breakfast and awards in recognition of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
The event at Seaside United Methodist Church recognized officers from six agencies that serve Brunswick County. One officer from each agency was selected to receive a certificate of appreciation and a gift card.
Those honored included Sgt. Willie McRae with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Trooper Joshua S. Soles with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Detective Heather Newman with the Shallotte Police Department, Officer Jacob C. Thomas with the Ocean Isle Beach Police Department, and Animal Control Officer Bill Arp with the Sunset Beach Police Department.
The Holden Beach Police Department was also recognized as a whole for its service.
Rotary members said the event was intended to thank law enforcement officers for their commitment to protecting and serving communities across southern Brunswick County.
