WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – South Brunswick softball improved to 7-0 in Mideastern Conference play following a 3-0 road win against Hoggard on Friday.

The game was 1-0 after the 1st inning, and it turned into a pitchers duel for a while. Then in the 6th, a wild pitch managed to score Gracie Yopp from third base. On the next pitch, Hayden Gulick singled into left to send Addison Woodruff home.

Kina Davis then struck out the side on her way to finishing with a total 16 strikeouts in a complete game shutout.

“Honestly with my teammates, I don’t really feel pressure a lot,” Davis said. “That’s not really a big issue. I know our bats always usually come through. Just knowing that my teammates are behind my back. It is a litter nerve-wracking with a good team like this, but I knew that if we kept swinging like we were, we were good for the rest of the game.”
