Southeast Technical High School opens new additions

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) –Southeast Technical High School (SEA-TECH) is celebrating the grand opening of its new Construction Trades Building.

The new state-of-the-art facilities are designed to equip students with hands-on, real-world skills that will set them up for successful careers in the trades.

The school has added three major facilities: a culinary kitchen, a coffee shop, and a carpentry warehouse—each designed to enhance students’ learning experience and prepare them for careers in high-demand industries.

Principal Edith Skipper shared that the response from students has been overwhelmingly positive. “I’ve heard over and over again, ‘I want to come to Sea-Tech so I can be a chef one day,’ or ‘I saw Mr. Butler’s carpentry class, and I want to go there.’ We’re drawing in students who are passionate about these trades,” she said.

These new additions were made possible by a $4 million North Carolina State Capital Infrastructure Grant.
